Hazelmead Cohousing
The UK’s largest cohousing project – 53 affordable, mixed tenure, eco-homes in West Dorset.
Our Role: Energy Consultant & AECB Certifier RIBA Stages 4-7 appointed by main contractor
Comprising 53 homes in seven south facing terraces and two small apartment blocks, Hazelmead is a community housing development in West Dorset. The buildings are timber frame design, constructed as SiPs panels brought to site with windows installed by Sevenoaks Modular. The buildings have direct electric heating with domestic hot water heat pumps. All buildings have a large PV array which is part of a micro-grid with localised battery storage.
We undertook PHPP & thermal bridge modelling, advised on airtightness detailing and sequencing, specified the heating, domestic hot water and ventilation equipment for design by specialist sub-contractors and supported the site team in achieving airtightness, gap free insulation, mechanical systems installation and evidence gathering.
All buildings are now complete and certified to the AECB Building Standard.
