Nailsea Passivhaus Plus Home

New private home for a retired couple achieving Passivhaus Plus

Our Role: Passivhaus Consultants RIBA Stages 2-7

Delta Q was involved from the outset of this project, guiding the client to adopt the Passivhaus standard and collaborating with the design team to determine the optimal positioning and orientation of the house. We also contributed to shaping the building’s form, fenestration, fabric, and building services.

This project was part of several collaborations with the contractor, where we focused on optimizing low-carbon construction using timber I-beams, pumped cellulose insulation, and external wood fiber insulation for the walls and roof.

While Passivhaus Plus wasn’t initially the goal, the all-electric design, 7kW integrated PV array, and 13.5 kW battery system ultimately achieved this standard, meaning the building generates more renewable energy than it consumes.

Following occupancy, we supported the client in the building’s operation and closely monitored its performance, confirming it met the intended energy goal
