Toronto Road Retrofit
Energy driven retrofit of a 1930s terraced house.
Our Role: Energy Consultant appointed by contractor RIBA 2-7
Delta Q was appointed to provide expert advice on the deep energy retrofit of a derelict house. Although the client did not pursue certification, they sought assurance in the building’s performance. To achieve this, Delta Q conducted an options appraisal, using PHPP modeling to identify the most cost-effective energy retrofit solutions.
The final design included insulation between the existing suspended floor joists and above the new solid floor, external wall insulation, and insulation over the rafters, with airtightness applied to the exterior of the structure. Triple-glazed windows and a Paul Novus MVHR system from the Green Building Store were also integrated. The retrofit successfully achieved an airtightness of 1.5 Air Changes per Hour.
