Refurbishment of a derelict Grade II* Listed manor house dating from the 15th century.

Our Role: Retrofit advice RIBA stages 4-5

Delta Q were employed by the client to review the feasibility of a proposed water source heat pump scheme and advise on roof insulation of the multi-pitched roof.

The water source heating involved abstraction of water from the River Avon as the water source and extracting the heat with a hybrid heat pump with back-up oil boiler.  Delta Q had a role overseeing the specialist contractor’s work as well as acting as client’s agent for the river water abstraction and discharge licences.

Delta Q also supported the architects in the design of the roof insulation, taking into account the moisture sensitive nature of the location.  Wood fibre insulation was installed between rafters from below, with wedges used to open up the felt above the insulation to ensure adequate ventilation on the cold side of the insulation.
